Winner The Best of the Best:

Woollahra Village House by Tobias Partners

Woollahra Village House designed by Tobias Partners is a contemporary home that sits behind an existing, unassuming Neo-Georgian façade in the heart of Woollahra Village. It’s humble proportions and forms complement the adjoining terrace houses, while the carefully designed plan – which divides the house into two parts – makes the most of a mature Chinese elm tree in a tranquil courtyard garden.

A modern kitchen with a stone island, wood cabinetry, and an integrated Gaggenau 200 series oven

Winner for Luxury Home:

Vessel by Madeleine Blanchfield Architects

Vessel is a Victorian Terrace situated in a quiet enclave in Darlinghurst. This house, for a professional couple, was to be an urban oasis and to house the many facets of private life within the existing rooms and a new rear extension. Madeleine Blanchfield Architects carried out the architecture and interior design of the home and the Kitchen is the mesmerising focal point of the extension.

A rich material palette defines the interior, with deep tones in the foyer transitioning to lighter spaces beyond. Apartments feature natural timber, refined marble, and bespoke joinery, engendering a warm and uncomplicated calmness.

Yukari House achieves a delicate balance between Australian and Japanese influences, providing a greater sense of place, belonging and connection to its Byron Bay setting. A balanced renovation kindles additional amenity with site connectivity - enabling a stronger weave between the sense of place and the comforts of belonging. Tanev Muir Architects explore the capacity for rhythm and relationships between spaces, striking a balance between cloistered privacy and openness.
